The first USS Helena Organization reunion took place on July 24, 25, and 26 1953.
The location was the Sheraton Hotel in Chicago.

Below are a Group Photo from the Helena Organization web site and two reunion Announcements. One is from The Naval Reservist and the other ALL HANDS magazine.

At the bottom of the page is a newspaper clipping from the Casey Collection that states William L McKechney is reunion chairman .

The second page has a few documents concerning Lt McKechney from his time on the CL-50.

One of these is from the Naval Register and the other is part of the April 1943 USS Helena CL-50 Deck Log. The first four pages list the officers serving at that timeand Lt (jg) William L McKechney's name appears in the second page
