Al's parents, Pietro Lucchetti and Maria D Parmiggiani were born in
Verese Ligure, Spezia, Italy, and married on 10 November 1912.

Two of their children, Giovanni and Magdalene ( Julia ) ,
were born there between November 1913 and May 1915.

On 10 February 1915 Pietro departed Genoa on
the SS Dante Alighieri, destination the United States,
arriving on the 26th.

His wife and two children remained in Italy.

By June 2017 he was in Colma, San Mateo County,
California, working on a farm or ranch.

In December 1919 Maria and the two children departed
Naples for the US, arriving on the 23rd.

Al's birth place in October 1920 is noted as either Colma or San Francisco.

The 1920 Census has his mom and dad living ~10 miles
to the south in Lomita Park,
a very small area within the current city of San Bruno.

The story continues in Sharlien's words:

" My father’s parents, the Italian Lucchetti clan, were vegetable farmers,
living somewhere within the 15,000 acre former Rancho Buri Buri.

Between 1920 and 1930
they purchased ranch in Mountain View.

The ranch was on Railroad Avenue which changed names
between 1930 and 1940 to Alma Road.

This was very close to the railroad station in downtown Mountain View.
This area is now known as Old Mountain View.

A map with a part of Mountain View in 1921 is below.

Al's sister Julia married in 1935 and lived in Mountain View for many years.

My Dad went to Mountain View High School and graduated in 1939.
Al's yearbook photo is below the map.

My Dad was of course in the Navy after high school, he and mother married March 1944.

[ Al enlisted in the Navy in September 1940 and came on board the USS Helena in late November ]

He and mother ( Arlien ) married in March 1944 and I was born in January 1945. "
